Bringing Water to the Basha Valley
Pads for Pakistan is thrilled to share some updates about our partnering school communities in the Basha Valley. After reading founder Samara’s article in Rolling Stone in March 2024, a group of donors were inspired to visit Iqra Fund’s sites in the region this summer. These visits resulted in a commitment to create the infrastructure required to provide clean water not just to the schools, but to the surrounding communities as well.
The total cost of this endeavor was $82,000, but thankfully that amount has been fully funded!
Iqra Fund partnered with CDRS to construct the necessary pipes and wells. Community members also volunteered their time, digging trenches over a kilometer in some villages! After this incredible collaborative effort, we are so happy to report that as of late October 2024, Iqra Fund has completed all the water projects!
Next, Iqra Fund and Pads for Pakistan have set our sights on constructing washrooms in each of the schools. With winter approaching, the construction season is wrapping up, but the building of these essential washrooms will resume in early 2025. Stay tuned for updates!
